DHAKA, Sept 12, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) today organised a training workshop on the Public Procurement Act, 2006, Public Procurement Rules, 2025 and the electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system.

The workshop was held at the BCI boardroom in the capital with the participation of BCI members, organisations engaged in government procurement, lawyers, entrepreneurs and trainees, said a press release.

BCI Senior Vice President Preeti Chakraborty chaired the inaugural session, while BCI President Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury (Parvez) attended the closing session and distributed training certificates among the participants.

Former secretary and former Chief Executive Officer of the Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority S M Moin Uddin Ahmed served as the resource person at the workshop.

In her opening remarks, Preeti Chakraborty said BCI has been working continuously to enhance the capacity of the business community.

She said the training would help participants acquire proper knowledge of the technical aspects of the e-GP system, enabling them to remain competitive in business.

The resource person conducted two sessions on "An overview of Public Procurement Act, 2006 & Public Procurement Rules, 2025" and "An introduction to e-GP system, how it works and benefits."

He explained key aspects of public procurement laws and rules and highlighted the role of the e-GP system in ensuring transparency, accountability and digital transformation in government procurement in Bangladesh.

He also discussed in detail how businesses can participate in the tendering process through the e-GP system and how the system can make procurement activities faster, easier and more efficient.

During the concluding session, participants shared their views on the training programme. BCI President Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury highlighted the chamber's ongoing training initiatives and thanked the resource person and participants on behalf of BCI.

Participants expressed satisfaction with the workshop, saying the interactive question-and-answer session made the training particularly useful and practical.

The programme was conducted by BCI Secretary General Dr Md Helal Uddin, NDC.
