Stocks remain range-bound as investors await rebound catalysts

DHAKA, Sept 9, 2026 (BSS) - Stocks today remained largely range-bound, withthe benchmark index edging down marginally as cautious investors stayed on the sidelines.

However, a relatively balanced market breadth and gains in several sectorskept hopes of a rebound alive.

The DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), fell 1.4 pointsto settle at 5,538 points, compared with 5,539 points in the previous trading session.

Investors remained cautious amid volatile market momentum, a lack of freshpositive catalysts and uncertainty over the upcoming earnings season.

Market turnover also declined 12 percent to Taka 5.2 billion from Taka 5.9 billion in the previous session.

Textile stocks dominated the day's trading, accounting for 31.2 percent oftotal turnover, followed by General Insurance at 13.0 percent and Bank at 11.9 percent.

Among the sectors, Textile gained 2.0 percent, Mutual Fund 1.6 percent andJute 1.1 percent. Ceramic fell 1.4 percent, Life Insurance 0.7 percent and Financial Institutions 0.3 percent.

Of the 395 issues traded, 163 advanced, 148 declined and 84 remained unchanged.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed lower, with its selectedindex CSCX falling 42.9 points and All Share Price Index (CASPI) declining 59.1 points.
