Workers' remittance inflow rises 26.9pc in August

DHAKA, Aug 31, 2026 (BSS)- Bangladesh witnessed a strong rise in workers' remittance inflow in August, with expatriate Bangladeshis sending US$2.83 billion during the month up to August 30, marking a 26.9 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

According to the latest data, the country received US$161 million in workers' remittances on August 30 alone.

The remittance inflow stood at US$2.229 billion during August 1-30, 2025, while the amount increased to US$2.830 billion during the corresponding period this year.

The latest figures also showed a robust year-on-year growth in remittance inflow during the first two months of the 2026-27 fiscal year.

Bangladesh received US$5.689 billion in workers' remittances from July 2026 to August 30, 2026, compared to US$4.707 billion during the corresponding period of 2025, registering a 20.9 percent yearly growth.
