Remittance inflow surges 22.3pc by August 29

DHAKA, Aug 30, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh received US$2,669 million in workers' remittances during the first 29 days of August 2026, marking a 22.3 percent year-on-year increase from US$2,182 million received during the corresponding period of August 2025.

According to the latest data, the country received US$214 million in remittances during August 27-29, 2026.

Meanwhile, total remittance inflow during July 2026 to August 29, 2026 stood at US$5,527 million, compared with US$4,660 million during the corresponding period of the previous year.

This represents an 18.6 percent increase in workers' remittance inflow during the first two months of the current fiscal year (FY2026-27) compared with the same period of FY2025-26.

The continued growth in remittance inflows is expected to strengthen the country's foreign exchange reserves and support overall external-sector stability.
