DHAKA, August 18, 2026 (BSS) – State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam today invited the Indian business community to explore the new government's forward-looking trade and investment approach to advance mutually beneficial economic cooperation between Bangladesh and India.
She made the remarks when a visiting delegation of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) called on her at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here, according to a ministry press release.
“The new government has a forward-looking approach to trade and investment which the Indian business community may explore for a mutually beneficial Bangladesh-India economic cooperation,” the State Minister said.
The CII delegation comprised business leaders representing a range of prominent Indian companies and institutions from sectors including consumer goods, automobiles, petroleum, energy and healthcare.
Representatives from Bharat Biotech International Limited, The Infravision Foundation, Godrej Industries Group, Arvind Limited, Mahindra Group, Numaligarh Refinery Limited, Larsen & Toubro Limited, Godrej Consumer Products Limited, Forbes Marshall Pvt Ltd, Beximco IOC Petroleum & Energy Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Limited and Apollo Hospitals were among the delegation members.
The meeting came as the visiting Indian business delegation is exploring opportunities for greater economic and commercial engagement between the two neighbouring countries.
