DHAKA, Aug 13, 2026 (BSS) - Stocks today extended its losing streak to a second consecutive session as intensified profit-taking and investor caution over potential changes to margin rules weighed on the market.
The DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), fell 13.4 points to settle at 5,884 points, compared with 5,897 points in the previous trading session.
The market remained volatile throughout the session as investors actively traded on both sides, while corrections in several large-cap stocks during the final hour pushed the indices into negative territory.
However, continued buying interest in insurance and momentum-driven stocks gained traction as opportunistic investors sought quick gains.

Textile stocks accounted for the highest share of turnover at 24.9 percent, followed by general insurance at 16.4 percent and pharmaceuticals at 10.3 percent.
Most sectors posted mixed returns. Services gained 0.8 percent, textiles 0.7 percent and general insurance 0.5 percent, recording the highest sectoral gains.
On the other hand, travel stocks declined 1.4 percent, ceramics 0.9 percent and food 0.9 percent, exerting the strongest downward pressure on the market.
Of the 395 issues traded, 132 advanced, 182 declined and 81 remained unchanged.
