Mohammad Shahajahan elected as ICSB president

DHAKA, Aug 6, 2026 (BSS) - Mohammad Shahajahan FCS, CPFA has been elected President of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) for the remaining period of the 2025-2028 Council terms.

He was elected at the 123rd Council Meeting of the institute held on Tuesday for the tenure from August 4, 2026 to October 9, 2028, according to a press release issued today.

Shahajahan is currently serving as Divisional Controller of Accounts (DCA) of the Office of the Divisional Controller of Accounts, Rangpur Division.

A member of the 24th Bangladesh Civil Service (Audit and Accounts) Cadre, he joined government service on July 2, 2005 and has served in different capacities in the Audit and Accounts Department. He also worked for five years as a Financial Management Specialist in the World Bank and IFAD-funded National Agricultural Technology Programme (NATP-2) under the Ministry of Agriculture.

He obtained his honours and master's degrees in Accounting in Bangladesh and earned an MSc in Development Management (Public Economic Management and Finance) from the University of Birmingham, UK.

Shahajahan is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA), UK, and the Institute of Financial Consultants (IFC), USA. He is also serving as Vice-President of the Bangladesh Accounting Association (BAA).
