DHAKA, July 30, 2026 (BSS) - Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) today announced a record budget of Tk 1,060 crore for the 2026-27 fiscal year, marking the 15th budget of the city corporation and the largest in its history.
The budget was formally announced today at the Nagar Bhaban auditorium by NCC Administrator Advocate Sakhawat Hossain Khan. The city corporation's budget for the previous fiscal year was Tk 775.33 crore.
The administrator said the new budget has given the highest priority to reducing public suffering. Priority sectors include road and drain construction, expansion of safe water supply, modernisation of waste management, canal restoration, mitigation of waterlogging, dengue control, reduction of traffic congestion, environmental protection, and tree plantation.
The principal source of financing for the budget has been identified as the city corporation's own revenue earnings. Income from the water supply sector, government development assistance, foreign-assisted projects, and allocations under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) have also been considered key sources for implementing the budget.
The budget announcement programme, moderated by urban planner Moinul Islam, was attended by Narayanganj-5 lawmaker Abul Kalam, Chairman of Narayanganj Development Authority Masukul Islam, Administrator of Narayanganj Zila Parishad Professor Mamun Mahmud, Acting Chief Executive Officer of NCC Nur Kutubul Alam, Supervising Engineer Azgar Hossain, and Chief Accounts Officer Hemayet Hossain.
Leaders of BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Andolan, and various political, social, and citizens' organisations were also present.
