BSEC organizes financial literacy training for Dhaka Commerce College students, teachers

DHAKA, July 1, 2026 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) today organized a day-long financial literacy training programme for nearly 100 teachers and students of the Department of Finance and Banking at Dhaka Commerce College at its Agargaon office, aiming to develop a knowledgeable and skilled investor base for the country's capital market.

The programme was inaugurated by BSEC Executive Director Mir Mosharraf Hossain Chowdhury at the commission's multipurpose hall as part of its ongoing financial education initiatives, said a press release.

The training focused on providing participants with a basic understanding of financial literacy and investment education to help them make informed financial decisions.

BSEC Director Sheikh Mahbub Ur Rahman conducted a session on the fundamentals of financial literacy, while Additional Director Sheikh Md. Lutfur Kabir discussed investment risks and investor protection.

BSEC Commissioner Md. Nafiz Al Tarik, CFA, FRM, led a session on financial planning.

The programme covered key topics including capital market investment, risk management, investor rights and protection, personal financial planning, and long-term investment strategies. Participants also took part in an interactive question-and-answer session on practical investment issues.

Speaking at the closing session, Commissioner Md. Nafiz Al Tarik stressed the importance of financial literacy in ensuring a stable, transparent and sustainable capital market. Training certificates were later distributed among the participating teachers and students.

BSEC said it would continue organising similar financial literacy programmes at educational institutions and for prospective investors across the country to promote greater financial awareness and support the development of a professional investor community.
