DHAKA, July 23, 2026 (BSS) - The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) today accorded a reception to Members of Parliament (MPs)
Nasser Rahman and Fazley Houda, as well as MPs-elect Mohd. Aslam Chowdhury FCA, in recognition of their election to the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) and
their association with the chartered accountancy (CA) profession.
The reception was organized to honour their electoral achievements and acknowledge their contributions to public service and national development,
said a press release.
ICAB expressed pride in their connection with the chartered accountancy profession and emphasized the importance of their continued engagement in
promoting professional excellence, strengthening institutional governance and supporting Bangladesh's socio-economic progress.
Speaking at the programme, Nasser Rahman, who represents Moulvibazar-3 constituency, pledged his full support for the development of the chartered
accountancy profession in the country.
He stressed the need to address challenges faced by CA firms, particularly in revenue generation and attracting students to the profession.
He also underscored the importance of strengthening student review and training systems to improve the quality of professional education and
increase the CA examination pass rate.
Fazley Houda, MP from Naogaon-3 constituency, highlighted the vital role chartered accountants can play in supporting the government's efforts to
raise the country's tax-to-GDP ratio.
He said expanding cashless transactions and accelerating the digitization of financial activities were essential for enhancing transparency,
accountability and efficiency in corporate governance and public administration.
Mohd. Aslam Chowdhury FCA, MP from Chittagong-4 constituency and also Adviser to the Chairperson of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), could not attend
the event due to prior commitments.
Earlier, ICAB President NKA Mobin FCA presented an overview of the Institute's activities, achievements and future strategic priorities.
Through a presentation, he outlined ICAB's initiatives aimed at strengthening professional standards, improving member services, expanding educational
opportunities and contributing to national economic development through a globally recognized chartered accountancy profession.
Acting Chief Executive Officer of ICAB Mostafa Kamal FCA delivered the welcome address.
The programme was attended, among others, by ICAB Council members, past presidents, senior professionals, members of the Institute and distinguished
guests from various sectors.
