DHAKA, July 22, 2026 (BSS)- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today has given approval in principle to reduce the minimum international open tender submission period for the emergency procurement of fertilizer raw materials from 42 days to 21 days to ensure uninterrupted production of key fertilizers.
The approval came at a meeting of the CCEA held at the Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair.
The proposal, placed by the Ministry of Industries, aims to shorten the tender submission period for the emergency import of raw materials used in the production of urea, diammonium phosphate (DAP) and triple super phosphate (TSP) fertilizers.
Officials said the decision would help accelerate emergency procurement, maintain adequate stocks of essential raw materials and prevent any disruption in fertilizer production, ensuring the timely supply of fertilizers to support the country's agriculture sector.
The committee also gave in-principle approval to a proposal from the Local Government Division to appoint the 34 Engineer Construction Brigade of the Bangladesh Army, Chattogram, as the executing agency under the delegated procurement method for implementing part of a road development project in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram.
