BEIJING, June 16, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - China's retail sales decreased year-on-year last month for the first time since December 2022, official data showed on Tuesday, as the world's second-largest economy battles sluggish domestic activity.

Sales were down 0.6 percent in May on-year, said the National Bureau of Statistics, worsening from April's lacklustre increase of 0.2 percent.
