KCCI hails budget as business-friendly, development-oriented

Khulna, June 11, 2026 (BSS) - The Khulna Chamber of Commerce and Industry
(KCCI) has described the proposed national budget for the 2026-27 fiscal
year, amounting to a record Tk 9.38 trillion, as welfare-oriented, realistic,
development-focused, agriculture-friendly, business-friendly and time-
befitting.

In a statement issued on Thursday evening, KCCI leaders congratulated the
government on the budget, saying it represents "a journey towards a
democratic, humane and inclusive economy."

The chamber leaders said the budget would bring relief to people from all
walks of life as it raised the tax-free income threshold for individual
taxpayers to Tk 3.75 lakh and for women and senior citizens to Tk 4.25 lakh.

They also welcomed measures aimed at reducing the prices of essential
commodities and services, including rice, wheat, potatoes, onions, garlic,
pulses, ginger, salt, sugar, edible oil, fish and meat, along with imported
spices, dates, raw materials for baby food, medical equipment, kidney
dialysis filters, cardiac stents, eye lenses, and raw materials for medicines
used in the treatment of cancer and other diseases.

The statement further praised the reduction in costs of locally manufactured
home appliances, domestically assembled laptops, desktop computers, monitors
up to 30 inches, smartphones, SIM and e-SIM cards, electric vehicles and
their components, as well as agricultural inputs such as fertilisers, seeds
and pesticides.

KCCI also welcomed the VAT exemption facility for freelancers and content
creators and the introduction of Family Card and Farmer Card programmes,
saying these initiatives would help ensure balanced and sustainable living
standards for citizens while supporting economic activities.

The chamber leaders expressed their support for the proposed budget and
conveyed their sincere congratulations and gratitude to Prime Minister
Tarique Rahman for presenting what they described as a people-centric and
business-supportive budget.
