DHAKA, June 3, 2026 (BSS) – The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs today recommended in principle a proposal to shorten the tender period for procuring a heavy recovery vehicle or wrecker for operational use by the Bangladesh Police for the sake of public interest.

The approval came from the 16th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs held at the Cabinet Division conference room at Bangladesh Secretariat today with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair.

Cabinet Division officials said the committee recommended policy approval for a proposal from the Ministry of Home Affairs to reduce the tender timeframe from 42 days to 21 days for the procurement of a 30-ton recovery vehicle (wrecker) through international tender. 

The vehicle is intended for operational activities of Bangladesh Police during the current fiscal year 2025–26.

The recommendation was made considering urgent state requirements and public interest.
