DHAKA, May 21, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Bank (BB) today issued a revised schedule for the Bangladesh Automated Clearing House (BACH) and Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) systems for May 25 and 26, 2026, to facilitate financial transactions and trade activities ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Azha.
The central bank took the decision to ensure smooth liquidity management and uninterrupted payment services during the public holidays preceding the festival, said a BB circular issued today.
Under the new arrangements, the Bangladesh Automated Check Processing System (BACPS) will operate under two categories for cheque clearing with revised presentment and return cut-off times.
For high-value clearing, the presentment cut-off time has been fixed at 11:30 am, while the return cut-off time will be 12:30 pm.
For regular-value clearing, the presentment cut-off time will be 12 pm and the return cut-off time 1 pm.
The central bank said the three sessions of the Bangladesh Electronic Funds Transfer Network (BEFTN) would continue to operate under the existing schedules on the two days.
Operational windows for the Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system have also been adjusted to accommodate time-sensitive payments.
According to the revised schedule, all transactions in Bangladesh Taka (BDT) and foreign currency (FC) will be processed between 10 am and 12:45 pm, while the window for interbank fund transfers and returns for both BDT and FC will remain open from 10am to 1 pm.
The circular was sent to the managing directors and chief executive officers of all scheduled banks and Bangladesh Co-operative Bank Limited.
The chief executives were instructed to take necessary measures to ensure smooth and uninterrupted operation of the payment systems during the holidays.
