DHAKA, May 20, 2026 (BSS) - The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) today recommended approval of several procurement proposals for importing and purchasing two crore litres of edible oil and 20,000 metric tons of lentils to strengthen the country’s essential commodity supply.
The recommendations came at the 22nd meeting of the CCGP for 2026, held with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat today.
Cabinet Division officials said the committee recommended approval of a proposal to procure one crore litres of refined rice bran oil under the Open Tender Method (National) at a total cost of Taka 179.50 crore.
The approved suppliers are Majumder Bran Oil Mills Ltd., Majumder Products Limited, Tamim Agro Industries Limited and Green Oil and Poultry Feed Industries.
The committee also recommended approval of another proposal for procuring one crore litres of refined palm olein in two-litre PET bottles at a cost of Taka 184.38 crore. Sonargaon Seeds Crushing Mills Ltd. was selected as the supplier.
In addition, the committee recommended approval of two separate proposals for procuring a total of 20,000 metric tons of lentils.
Under the first proposal, 10,000 metric tons of lentil will be procured at a cost of Taka 84.77 crore from Shabnam Vegetable Oil Industries Limited.
Under the second proposal, another 10,000 metric tons of lentil will be procured at a cost of Taka 83.63 crore from M/S Modina Trading Corporation and M/S Bismillah Dal Mill, each supplying 5,000 metric tons.
The meeting also discussed and recommended several other procurement proposals from different ministries and divisions.
Among them, the Roads and Highways Division received approval recommendation for the construction work under the Sylhet-Charkhai-Sheola four-lane highway project under three separate lots involving an estimated cost of over Taka 2,506 crore.
The Water Resources Ministry secured approval recommendation for a variation proposal for riverbank protection works along the Shibsha River in Khulna under the “Disaster Risk Management Enhancement Project”.
The committee further recommended approval of two proposals under the Home Ministry, including procurement for the “Expansion of Content Blocking and Filtering System (Phase-1)” for the National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre at a cost of about Taka 94.90 crore and procurement of five riverine patrol vessels for the Bangladesh Coast Guard at a cost of about Taka 1,211.95 crore.
Besides,
one procurement proposal under package KWASA/KWSP-2/ADB/W-5 under the Local Government Division for Khulna WASA’s “Khulna Water Supply Project (Phase-2)” also received approval recommendation with Taka 339.17 crore where CCSEB-RPL JV becoming the responsive bidder.
