SEOUL, May 4, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - South Korea's benchmark stock index jumped more than five percent to close at a fresh high on Monday as investors snapped up technology shares and cheered prospects for an end to the Middle East war.

The Kospi closed up 5.12 percent at 6,936.99, the latest in a string of record highs for the bourse.
