DHAKA, April 4, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Bank (BB) has set new timings for office and transaction hours for all scheduled banks, effective from tomorrow, in order to conserve fuel and electricity across the country.

Bank offices will remain open from 10:00am to 5:00pm, while transactions will be conducted from 10:00am to 3:00pm from Sunday to Thursday, according to a circular by BB.

However, bank branches, sub-branches, and booths located in sea, land, and airport areas will continue to operate 24/7 as per the existing directives.

The new timings follow after the government on April 2 announced a series of austerity measures, including curtailing office hours and early closure of shopping malls and shops, considering the ongoing energy situation in the wake of the crisis in the Middle East.
