KHULNA, April 2, 2026 (BSS) – Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and Secretary of the Internal Resources Division, Md. Abdur Rahman Khan today said that no irregularities in revenue collection will be tolerated and fairness must be ensured in the process.

“We will not only collect revenue, but also ensure justice and equity in revenue collection,” he said while addressing a budget-related views-exchange meeting as the chief guest.

The meeting was held at the conference room of the Divisional Commissioner’s Office in Khulna this morning, with participation from government officials of Khulna division and district levels.

The Divisional Commissioner’s Office organized the event.

Addressing officials concerned with taxation, the NBR chairman said that some businesses are operating using fake licenses in collusion with others and evading taxes.

“Such irregularities will not be accepted under any circumstances,” he added, urging officials to resolve existing complications rather than creating new ones.

He also said that the NBR works for all and aims at public welfare. “If everyone works together, the country will move forward,” he noted.

Mentioning that the number of taxpayers in the country is increasing, he stressed the need to expand the tax net further and explore new areas to boost revenue collection.

He urged prudent use of public money to prevent waste and avoid burdening future generations with debt.

He also called on government officials and employees to come fully under the tax net to improve accountability and remove negative perceptions.

Acting Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Nazmul Haque chaired the meeting.

Among others, NBR Member (Tax Policy) Barrister Mutasim Billah Faruqi, Member (VAT Policy) Md. Azizur Rahman, Member (Customs Policy & ICT) Md. Mubinul Kabir, Member (Tax Administration & HRM) Ahsan Habib and DIG of Khulna Range Md. Rezaul Haque also spoke on the occasion.
