CCGP approves procurement of fertilizer, fuel

DHAKA, March 31, 2026 (BSS) - The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase 
(CCGP) today approved several major procurement proposals, including the 
import of fertilizer, diesel, and crude oil, alongside cost revisions for 
housing and railway infrastructure projects.

The approvals came from the 13th meeting of the CCGP in this year held at 
Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in 
the chair.

A total of 10 proposals were presented and discussed during the meeting. Out 
of these, six proposals were approved while four were withdrawn by their 
respective ministries.

The committee approved a proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture to import 
35,000 metric tons of MOP fertilizer from Russia's JSC Foreign Economic 
Corporation (Prodintorg). The procurement, implemented through the Bangladesh 
Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC), is valued at approximately Taka 
154.89 crore, with the price per metric ton set at US$360.53.

Three significant proposals from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division 
were approved to bolster the country's energy security.

The committee also approved the import of one lakh metric tons of Diesel 
(EN590 10 PPM) from EXXON MOBIL KHAZAKHASTAN INC through direct procurement 
method.

CCGP also approved the procurement of 60,000 metric tons of Gas Oil 0.5 
percent S (Diesel) from PT Bumi Siak Pusako Zapin (BSP Zapin), Indonesia, 
through an international government-to-government (G-to-G) arrangement.

The committee also approved the import of one lakh metric tons of Crude Oil 
from Abeer Trade and Global Markets through direct procurement method, a move 
initiated due to current instability in the Middle East.

The CCGP approved budget revisions for two major ongoing projects.
The committee approved a 14.837 percent increase in the contract value for 
constructing two 15-story buildings for government officials in Aliganj, 
Narayanganj. The revised cost stands at Taka 109.36 crore, up from the 
original Taka 95.22 crore. The project is being executed by PBL and DCL (JV).

The committee also approved a proposal for the rehabilitation of embankments, 
bridges, and tracks on the Kulaura-Shahbazpur section. The revised contract 
value is now Taka 672.52 crore, up from Taka 544.86 crore. The work is being 
carried out by Kalindee Rail Nirman.
