DHAKA, Feb 8, 2026 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) and the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) titled "Research and Advocacy for Industrial Development in Bangladesh" to strengthen the country's manufacturing sector through data-driven insights.

The agreement was signed at the BIDS conference room in Agargaon in the city, said a press release.

BIDS Director General Professor Dr. A. K. Enamul Haque and BCI President Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury (Parvez) signed the document on behalf of their respective organizations.

Under the MoU, both parties will collaborate on three primary areas: publishing a Quarterly State of Manufacturing Industry report, conducting research on the manufacturing sector, and performing policy advocacy.

Speaking at the ceremony, BCI President Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury (Parvez) emphasized the necessity of real-time data for the expansion of the manufacturing industry, the creation of new entrepreneurs, and the attraction of foreign investment.

He stated that as a premier research institution, BIDS is well-equipped to provide the data needed to benefit stakeholders, including industry owners, policymakers, investors, and the government.

BIDS Director General Professor Dr. A. K. Enamul Haque noted that BIDS, acting as a government research wing and independent institution, is eager to partner with the private sector.

He expressed confidence that this collaboration will help identify the actual problems of the industrial sector through research, thereby creating opportunities for effective and realistic policy formulation.

The signing ceremony was attended by BCI Senior Vice President Priti Chakraborty, BCI directors, BIDS research directors, and other senior officials from both organizations.
