DHAKA, Oct 28, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) continues to attract significant foreign investment as Journey Outdoors Bangladesh Co. Ltd. becomes the 50th company to sign a lease agreement in the BEPZA Economic Zone (BEPZA EZ) at Mirsharai in Chattogram.
This milestone further strengthens the zone’s growing reputation as a key destination for global business ventures.
Journey Outdoors Bangladesh, a company owned by investors from Singapore and China, will invest US$ 27.57 million to establish a high-end garment and outdoor products manufacturing industry in the BEPZA EZ, said a press release.
The lease agreement was signed today at the BEPZA Complex, Dhaka, by Md. Ashraful Kabir, Member (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA, and Han JunXiao, Managing Director of Journey Outdoors Bangladesh Co. Ltd.
BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain witnessed the signing ceremony.
The company will produce 16 million pieces of high-end apparel and outdoor products annually, including underwear, T-shirts, polo shirts, shorts, various types of jackets (fleece, soft shell, down, cotton, leather, waterproof, windproof, faux leather), outerwear, long pants, ski suits, ski pants, fishing, hiking, yoga and running outfits, jeans, knitted shorts, fur-lined garments, golf outfits, casual skirts, backpacks, cross-body bags, tents, sleeping bags, hammocks, outdoor canopy tents, hats, gloves, socks, and scarves.
The project is expected to create employment opportunities for some 3,467 Bangladeshi nationals.
In his remarks, BEPZA Executive Chairman expressed his gratitude to Journey Outdoors Bangladesh for choosing Bangladesh, particularly BEPZA EZ, as their investment destination. He emphasized BEPZA's unwavering commitment to providing world-class support for investors, fostering a secure and conducive environment for business operations.
With this agreement, the BEPZA Economic Zone has now secured a total proposed investment of US$ 1.11 billion from 50 companies, demonstrating the zone's potential to attract a wide range of industries.
The signing ceremony was attended by Abdullah Al Mamun, Member (Engineering); A N M Foyzul Haque, Member (Finance); Md. Khorshid Alam, Executive Director (Enterprise Services); Samir Biswas, Executive Director (Admin); A.S.M. Anwar Parvez, Executive Director (Public Relations), along with representatives of Journey Outdoors Bangladesh Co. Ltd.
