Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

DHAKA, Oct 26, 2025 (BSS) - Country's both bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - today plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.

DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, declined by 22.9 points to settle at 5,127 points as against 5,150 points in the previous trading session. 

Market turnover remained stagnant at Taka 4.6 billion. 

On the sectoral front, Bank (14.5%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Gen Ins (12.0%) and Pharma (9.2%) sectors. Sectors mostly displayed negative returns, out of which Cement (-1.7%), IT (-1.5%) and Travel (-1.0%) exhibited the most negative returns on the bourse today, while General Insurance (2.8%) and Jute (1.9%) exerted most positive returns.

Out of the 397 issues traded, 142 advanced, 190 declined and 65 remained unchanged.

The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on a negative zone. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) decreased by 18.0 points and 24.1 points respectively.
