Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

DHAKA, Oct 15, 2025 (BSS) - Country's both bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - today plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.

DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, plummeted by 80.8 points or -1.6% to settle down at a three-month low of 5,117 points compared to 5,197 points in the previous session. 

Market turnover also declined by 19.6 percent to TK  4.9 billion. 

On the sectoral front, Pharmaceutical (14.8%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Textile (11.5%) and General Insurance (11.5%) sectors. All the sectors displayed negative returns, out of which Jute (5.7%), Ceramic (5.1%) and IT (4.0%) led the decline of the session. 

Out of the 397 issues traded, 32 advanced, 326 declined and 39 remained unchanged.

The port city bourse, CSE, also experienced a bearish session today. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) plunged by 104.6 and 168.5 points, respectively.
