DHAKA, Oct 15, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Bank (BB) has taken a decision to introduce a new mandatory reporting requirement within its existing Online Import Monitoring System (OIMS) to further ease the import trade process.
To this end, the central bank today issued a circular, announcing the introduction of a new reporting feature, a tab titled ‘Commercial Invoice,’ within the OIMS.
This measure, decided upon for the further facilitation of the import trade process, will require Authorized Dealers (ADs) to report detailed information.
The new requirement will become effective from November 1, 2025. This directive is issued under the authority granted by Section 20 (3) of the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, 1947, and Section 45 (1) (Gha) of the Bank Company Act, 1991.
Currently, ADs are responsible for reporting import transaction and information into the OIMS of Bangladesh Bank. With the introduction of the new tab, ADs will be required to report information specifically drawn from the commercial invoice and other relevant documents.
To ensure smooth compliance, ADs have been advised to follow the reporting procedures outlined in the system’s dedicated guidelines.
These procedures can be found in the OIMS under the path: Documents>Other Documents/Guidelines>Commercial Invoice Data Entry/Upload Manual.
It is important to note that the OIMS already functions with enhanced efficiency, having been integrated with designated Online Systems of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) through an Application Programming Interface (API).
