Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

DHAKA, July 27, 2025 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- today plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
 
DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, declined by 37.2 points or 0.7% to settle at 5,355 points as against 5,392 points in the previous trading session. 
 
On the sectoral front, Bank (24.0%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by General Insurance (11.7%) and Food (10.8%) sectors.
 
Sectors mostly displayed negative returns, out of which Food (-4.7%), Cement (-3.7%) and Ceramic (-2.4%) showed the most corrections on the bourse today. 
 
Out of the 397 issues traded, 116 advanced, 229 declined and 52 remained unchanged.
 
The port city bourse, CSE, also witnessed a profit-booking session today. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) declined by 32.4 and 49.6 points, respectively.
