DHAKA, May 28, 2025 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - today plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, lost 62.7 points or 1.3% to settle at 4,615 points, as against 4,678 points in the previous trading session.
Market turnover in DSE declined further by 2.8 percent to Taka 2.6 billion as against Taka 2.7 billion in the previous session.
On the sectoral front, Bank (15.7%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Food (15.4%) and Pharmaceutical (9.1%) sectors. All the sectors, except Cement (0.3%), ended in red, out of which Financial Institutions (-4.0%), Jute (-3.2%) and Travel (-2.7%) exhibited the most negative returns on the bourse today.
Out of the 397 issues traded, 59 advanced, 292 declined and 46 remained unchanged.
The port city bourse, CSE also settled on a negative note. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) declined by 90.1 and 138.8 points, respectively.
