RAJSHAHI, Nov 9, 2025 (BSS) - Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul today said there is no reason for confusion over the upcoming parliamentary election.
He said the interim government is fully committed to holding the election in early February and all necessary measures will be taken to ensure a festive and peaceful atmosphere during the polls.
Dr Asif Nazrul made the remarks while replying to questions from journalists after a views-exchange meeting with judges at the Legal Aid Office in the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court Building this morning.
"There is no issue to delay the election. It will definitely be held on time," the law adviser said, adding that need-based steps will be taken to make the election environment festive.
He observed that political parties often make remarks to exert pressure on each other, which creates confusion among the general people.
He, however, noted that some level of anxiety exists among people as no national election has been held in the past 16 to 17 years.
"As more than five crore people could not cast their votes during that period, the upcoming election is very important for them. People across the country are eagerly waiting to exercise their voting rights," Dr Asif Nazrul added.
Referring to the judicial system and bail, the Law Adviser said that granting bail not only depends on the judges but also on the police report. Where a person is eligible for bail, it is permissible.
He, however, emphasized that special caution is needed in cases where the person may commit the same type of offense or become involved with outlawed gangs after being granted bail.
Law Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul said more judges are being appointed to infuse dynamism into court activities. In some places, three judges are being assigned where previously only one judge handled the cases, to reduce the pressure on the courts.
"We are taking diversified steps in court reformation, and the people will surely benefit from them," he added.
