DHAKA, May 27, 2025 (BSS) – The government today approved separate proposals for procuring some 1 cargo LNG, 70,000 MTs of fertilizer and 45 lakh liters of refined rice bran oil to meet the growing demand of the country.
The approvals came from the 21st meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase held at Bangladesh Secretariat today with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.
Following a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, the Petrobangla would procure one cargo LNG from the spot market from M/S POSCO International Corporation, South Korea with around Taka 608.14 crore through following international quotation collection method.
In response to a proposal from the Ministry of Industries, the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) would procure 30,000 metric tons of bulk granular urea fertilizer under the 4th lot from Fertiglobe Distribution Limited, UAE for the current fiscal year (FY25) with around Taka 138.16 crore with per ton fertilizer costing $377.50.
In another proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) would procure 40,000 metric tons of DAP fertilizer under the 6th lot from MA’ADEN, Saudi Arabia under state-level agreement at around Taka 345.99 crore with per ton fertilizer costing $709.
In response to another proposal from the Ministry of Commerce, the state-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) would procure some 45 lakh liters of refined rice bran oil through local OTM method from Majumder Bran Oil Mills Limited, Noapara, Jashore, Bangladesh with around Taka 71.77 crore where per liter oil would cost Taka 159.50.
The purchase committee meeting also approved separate proposals from the Internal Resources Division, Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Road Transport and Highways Division and the Ministry of Railways.
