MANIKGANJ, Oct 18, 2022 (BSS) - Farmers are expecting excellent production of Transplanted Aman (T-Aman) rice in the district as the cultivation target of T-Aman rice has been exceeded by the farmers during the current season.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources here said a target was fixed to produce 27,280 tonnes of T-Aman from 8,800 hectors of
land in seven upazilas. But, the cultivators have been brought 10,002 hectors of land under the T-Aman cultivation with the production target of 31,006 tonnes rice.
A total of 2,200 small and marginal farmers got seed and fertilizer as incentives for boosting the production of Aman paddy in the district during the season.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said the government has distributed seeds for cultivating one bigha of land and necessary fertilizers including 20-kg of Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and 10-kg of Muriate of Potash (MoP) among the cultivators free of cost.
Deputy Director of DAE Abu Mohammad Enayet Ullah said the farmers of the district cultivated the Aman in their land after harvesting the Boro paddy as an extra crop and fodder for their cattle heads.
