JHENAIDAH, Aug 8, 2026 (BSS) - Onion seeds, fertilizer and polythene sheets were distributed free of cost among 3,000 farmers in Shailkupa upazila of the 
district today as part of a government initiative to boost summer onion production and provide agricultural incentives to farmers.

The agricultural inputs were distributed at a programme held at the Upazila Agriculture Office premises on Saturday morning.

Additional Deputy Director (Crops) of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Anisuzzaman attended the programme as the chief guest.

Among others, Upazila Agriculture Officer Md Arifuzzaman, Upazila Fisheries Officer Imran Hossain, Upazila Rural Development Officer Mahmudul Hasan and Assistant Plant Protection Officer Milan Ghosh were present.

The onion seeds, fertilizer and polythene sheets were distributed under the government's agricultural incentive programme," said Md Arifuzzaman while speaking at the programme.

He expressed hope that the initiative would play a positive role in helping the country achieve self-sufficiency in onion production.
