DHAKA, Aug 17, 2026 (BSS) - Sajek Valley, located in Baghai Chhari upazila of Rangamati and known as the kingdom of clouds, is an extraordinary recreational destination for tourists.
Ruilui Para and the peak of Konglak Hill, renowned for their breathtaking natural beauty and views of sunrise, have made Sajek one of the country's most popular tourist spots.
Every day, travel enthusiasts from different parts and regions of the country flock to Sajek to enjoy its magnificent scenery.
They are delighted by the views of the clouds playing around the highest peak of Sajek and the surrounding hills from the helipad viewpoint located near the Mizoram border in Rangamati district.
Schoolteacher Mehedi Hasan, who came from Gaibandha district to see the extraordinary beauty of Sajek, told BSS while expressing his feelings after seeing the play of clouds and the beauty of the hills, "The beauty here is much, much greater than my expectations and imagination."
However, he said the winding, narrow hill roads should be widened to make travel easier for tourists coming here from different parts of the country.
Located about 1,800 feet above sea level, Sajek Valley is an attractive destination for travel enthusiasts travelling through Dighinala in Khagrachhari by Chander Gari or jeep, or by reserving motorcycles.
Tourists enter Sajek at designated times and return on schedule, following the security convoy timetable under escorts from Bangladesh Army and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) camps and police security.
They visit the valley to enjoy its extraordinary natural beauty and watch the sunrise from Ruilui Para and the peak of Konglak Hill.
As a result, it has gained recognition as one of the country's most popular tourist destinations.
Student Nafiul Islam, who came to Sajek from Bogura, told BSS, "I would not have realised that such a beautiful tourist destination exists in the country if I had not seen it with my own eyes."
He said it had been difficult to get there, but he still enjoyed the trip very much. However, he commented that it would have been better if the transport system were improved further.
Talking to locals, it was learnt that the main concerns for tourists in Sajek are landslides and roads being submerged by hill runoff during heavy rainfall, resulting in disruption of communication. As a result, tourists are often stranded there.
During a recent visit to the Sajek Valley area, it was seen that a number of hotels and restaurants have been established to provide accommodation and food for tourists, while local vendors have set up stalls displaying a variety of products.
Tourist Arif Hossain said that a person spends around Tk 5,000 to Tk 7,000 per day on accommodation and food in Sajek.
The cost is slightly higher for those travelling with family. As a result, many people cannot afford to enjoy the breathtaking scenic beauty of Sajek Valley in Baghai Chhari upazila of Rangamati.
However, many visitors come to Sajek with their loved ones with great joy and enthusiasm and are delighted to witness the captivating beauty of nature.
