BANDARBAN, March 23, 2026 (BSS) - The Eid holidays have brought a surge of tourists to the hilly district of Bandarban, as visitors from across the country gather to experience its scenic beauty, rolling hills, and drifting clouds.

Popular tourist destinations such as Nilgiri, Nilachal and Shailprapat are witnessing heavy crowds, with families and groups engaging in various leisure activities. Tourists are seen traveling across hill tracks by jeep and capturing moments amid the natural landscape.

Visitors have expressed admiration for the region’s beauty. Aindrila Biswas, visiting Nilachal, described the experience as breathtaking, saying she felt surrounded by mountains on all sides. Another tourist, Saiful Islam from Dhaka, said that Bandarban offers a unique opportunity to appreciate the natural beauty of Bangladesh.

Tourist footfall increased significantly throughout the day. Sukumar Tanchangya, manager of the Meghla tourist center ticket counter, reported that although visitor numbers were modest in the morning, they rose sharply in the afternoon. Evening hours have seen even higher attendance.

The influx has kept hotel and resort operators busy, with most accommodations fully booked in advance.
Sirajul Islam, president of the Bandarban Residential Hotel-Resort Owners Association, confirmed that all hotels and resorts are currently occupied due to the holiday rush.

To ensure visitor safety, the district administration, along with law enforcement agencies, has implemented enhanced security measures across tourist sites. Bandarban Tourist Police Inspector Md. Farid Uddin stated that officers are working around the clock, with additional personnel deployed, including plainclothes patrols.

Similar tourist activity has been reported across all seven upazilas of the district, bringing renewed vibrancy to the hill towns. The influx is also contributing positively to the local economy.

Officials and stakeholders remain optimistic that sustained tourist interest will continue to support the growth of Bangladesh’s tourism sector.
