LALMONIRHAT, Mar 20, 2026 (BSS): Tourist destinations and recreational centers across all five upazilas of the district have been prepared ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Fitr, which falls tomorrow.

With the start of the government holiday, the district administration and police have taken comprehensive security measures to ensure the safety of the visitors.

Considering the expected surge in tourists during the Eid vacation, renovation and beautification work at various sites were completed in advance. Officials expected that the entertainment spots of the district will become vibrant with a large influx of visitors during the vacation period.

Every year during Eid, large crowds gather at popular attractions such as the Tin Bigha Corridor, Burimari Land Port, Teesta Barrage, Naodabas Sal Forest, Sheikh Russell Shishu Park, and the Dharla Bridge. The influx typically continues from Eid day for the following four to five days.

Local school teacher Monir Hossain said that people from different parts of the country visit Dahagram during Eid to see the Tin Bigha Corridor, emphasizing the need for heightened law enforcement vigilance. Student Fahim Hasan stressed the importance of ensuring security at recreational centers for incoming visitors.

Mizanur Rahman, currently working in Dinajpur, told BSS that although the district has limited recreational infrastructure, places like Sheikh Russell Shishu Park provide some entertainment opportunities for both children and adults, with security arrangements in place.

Officer-in-Charge of Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station Abdul Matin, said that surveillance has been enhanced at key locations, with regular patrols being intensified. Intelligence monitoring will also continue.

Superintendent of Police (SP) of Lalmonirhat Asaduzzaman stated that, alongside tourist police, special security measures by the district police will be in place at major sites, including the Teesta Barrage. Check posts will be set up at various points to prevent mugging and harassment.

Deputy Commissioner H.M. Rokib Haider said that necessary instructions have been issued to relevant departments through coordination meetings ahead of Eid. Upazila administrations and law enforcement agencies have been directed to remain on high alert to ensure the safety of tourists.
