Zakir, Shanto hit fifty as Bangladesh A hit back on day 3

DHAKA, Dec 1, 2022 (BSS) - Zakir Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto made a huge resistance as Bangladesh A hit back strongly in the first four-day game against India at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox's Bazar today.

Thanks to the duo, Bangladesh ended the third day on 172-1 but still is trailing by 181 runs. India A declared their first innings on 465-5 after Bangladesh batted poorly to be all out for 112.

Opener Zakir Hasan was batting on 81 and Shanto was on 56 as the bails were drawn for day three. Mahmudul Hasan Joy was the only batter to be out for Bangladesh in the second innings on 21.

But an innings defeat looked to be on the cards when India A resumed the day on 404-5. However the visitors didn't bat for long in a bid to bring up the result. They declared the innings shortly before the lunch after adding 61 runs to their overnight total.

Upendra Yadav who began the day on 27 scored the most of the runs and remained not out on 71.

Earlier, their openers Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed 145 while captain Abhimanyu Easwaran scored 142 to help the side put up a strong total.

For Bangladesh, left-arm spinner Taijul Islam picked up 3-170 while pacer Syed Khaled Ahmed had figures of 2-93.
