DHAKA, Nov 9, 2022 (BSS) - Saif Powertec 35th National Age Group Swimming and Diving competition begins from Friday (Nov 11) at Syed Nazrul Islam National Swimming Complex in the city's Mirpur.
 
Youth and Sports Secretary Mesbah Uddin is expected to inaugurate the three-day meet as the chief guest, sponsored by Saif Powertec Limited and organised by Bangladesh Swimming Federation (BSF).
 
BSF's vice president and Saif Powertec Limited's managing director Tarafder Md Ruhul Amin will preside over the opening ceremony.
 
About 300 swimmers from Divisional Sports Associations, District Sports Associations, swimming clubs, educational boards, Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan, Bangladesh Ansar and Bangladesh Police are expected to participate in this competition.
 
In the age-based swimming competition, swimmers -- under-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-17 and 18-20 -- will participate in five groups.
 
Hundred events in swimming and three events in diving (1m spring board, 3m spring board and 5m: platform diving) will be held in three-day competition. The diving event will be held at BKSP diving pool.
 
Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the winners and trophies will be awarded to the champions and runners-up teams while individual trophies and cash prizes will be given to the best male and female swimmers.
 
Competition sponsor Saif Powertec Limited will bear the entire expenditure of the competition.
 
BSF general secretary MB Saif disclosed the details at a press conference held today (Wednesday) at Bangladesh Olympic Association's auditorium.
 
BSF's vice president Abdul Hamid, BSF's treasurer Md. Rezaul Hossain Badsha, BSF's joint secretary Md. Selim Mia, were among others, also present in the press conference.
