Sakline, Mugdho score two points each after 4th round

DHAKA, Aug 3, 2021 (BSS)- Sakline Mostafa Sajid and Rayan Rashid Mugdho scored two points each in the open Under-10 Boys’ group after the end of the fourth round matches of the FIDE Online Rapid Cadet and Youth Chess Championships now being held at the Platform Tornello, said a press release today.

In the under-18 girls’ group, WFM Noshin Anjum and Kazi Zarin Tasnim also scored two points apiece and Tasnia Tarannum Orpa scored 1.5 points while WCM Ahmed Walijah scored one point after the fourth round matches.

The third and fourth round matches were held on Monday last.

In third round matches Mugdho beat Mcdonald Jacob Frank and WFM Noshin beat Benita de Leo Estefania of Mexico. Sakline lost to Akshaj Chaudhury of India, Zarin lost to Poornima Gupta of India, Arpa lost to Diaz Charpentier Kristel Meliss of Costa Rica and WCM Walijah lost to Baisheva Nyurguiaana of Russia.

In the fourth round, Sakline beat Sanskrit Jaiswak of America, Zarin beat Ajal Nasir of India and WCM Walijah beat Andhin Chethanah of Mauritius. Orpa split points with Do Dinh Hong Chinh of Vietnam. Mugdho lost to Liu Zachary Hankun of Canada and WFM Noshin lost to Pham Tran Gia Thu of Vietnam.

A total of 227 players from 72 countries are participating in the Open U-10 group and 104 players from 43 countries are participating in the girls U-18 group.

The top ten players will advance to the final stage of the 9-round Swiss-League qualifying stage.
