Metro Express Barisal make winning start 

DHAKA, Oct 29, 2022 (BSS) - Metro Express Barisal made a winning start as they beat Walton Dhaka by 2-1 goals in the first-ever franchise-based Hockey Champions Trophy held today (Saturday) at Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium here.
 
In the day's match, Deen Islam Imon and Malaysian forward Akhumullah Eshook scored one goal each for Barisal Rokibul Hasan Roki netted the lone goal for Walton Dhaka.

After a contesting first and second quarter which ended in clean sheet, Imon finally broke the deadlock scoring the first goal for Barisal in the 32nd minute, but their lead lasted for few minutes when Walton Dhaka staged a fight back in the match when Rokibul neutralized the margin with a field goal in the 35th minute of the match.

After that both the teams were trying to take the lead creating some scoring chance and finally Barisal's Malaysian striker Eshook sealed the victory scoring the second goal converting a penalty corner two minute before the long whistle.

Walton Dhaka eventually had to leave the field with defeat as it was not possible for them to fight back in match in the remaining proceeding.
Six teams -- Acme Chattogram, Metro Express Barisal, Monarch Mart Padma, Rupayan City Cumilla, Saif Powertec Group Khulna and Walton Dhaka - are participating in the tournament, organized by Bangladesh Hockey Federation.
