DHAKA, Oct 26, 2022 (BSS) - After a three-year recess, Cute Premier Handball League will begin from Tuesday (Nov 1) at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the city.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Zahid Ahsan Russel, MP, is expected to inaugurate the week-long meet as the chief guest.
A total of nine clubs, split into two groups, will take part in the league, organised by Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF).
In the last edition ten teams took part in the league with. Quantum Foundation were last year's champions who are not participating in this league.
After a group phase matches, the place-deciding matches will begin from November 6 while the top two teams from each group will qualify for the final slated for November 7 at the same venue.
BHF's long time ally Mousumi Industries Limited has continued their support as they come forward to work with the BHF sponsoring the league again.
The competition budget of Taka 7,26,000 (Taka seven lacs and twenty six thousand) has been estimated to run the league.
Cute Premier League managing committee's Secretary Mohammad Jahangir Hossain disclosed the details at a press conference held today (Wednesday) at BHF's conference room.
He informed that it'll be the first time the foreign players are going to take part in the league with maximum two foreign players will be allowed to play for each team.
The managing committee's secretary said cash prizes will be distributed among the participating clubs.
BHF's general secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor said their main target is to promote the players through the premier league.
He also thanked sponsor Mousumi Industries Limited for coming forward to extend their cooperation to the federation.
Mousumi Industries Limited's chairman Kazi Razib Uddin Ahmed Chapal said BHF and Mousumi Industries Limited has become a family and he assured to stay beside the BHF in the future.
Participating teams:
Group A - Arambagh Krira Sangha, Dhaka Mariners Young's Club, Prime Sporting Club, Flame Boys Club and Jurain Janata Club.
Group B - Narinda Pragati Boys Club, Bangla Club, Surjodoy Krira Chakra and Menzis Krira Chakra.
