DHAKA, Sept 8, 2026 (BSS) — Bangladesh shrugged off their previous matches defeats as they bounced back to register their first win in the U-20 Men’s Junior Asia Cup Hockey tournament beating Kazakhstan by 4-2 goals in their third group match held today (Tuesday) in China’s inner Mongolia.

The much-needed victory not only kept their hopes of qualifying for the Junior World Cup alive, but also opened Bangladesh's points account after back-to-back defeats in their opening two matches and boosted the team's confidence.

Bangladesh played attacking hockey from the outset and kept Kazakhstan under constant pressure. Shimul Islam, Mehedi Hasan Abvi, Tayab Ali and Munna Islam netted one goal apiece for the boys in red and green brigade.

Yerali Kairatuly and Arsen Zhanat scored one goal each for Kazakhstan.

Earlier, Bangladesh started their campaign with a 3-2 defeat to hosts China before suffering a 4-2 loss to Malaysia in their second match.
