DHAKA, Aug 25, 2026 (BSS) - The Cute-BSPA Sports Carnival 2026 got underway today (Tuesday) with a carrom competition at the home of Bangladesh Sports Press Association (BSPA).
The two-week sporting festival is sponsored by 'Cute', a popular brand of Moushumi Industries Limited.
National Sports Council Director (sports) and former national footballer Zahid Parvez Chowdhury and Mousumi Industries Limited (Cute) executive director Asma Ashrafi Saklain formally inaugurated the carnival.
Speaking as the chief guest on the opening ceremony, Zahid Parvez Chowdhury assured the organisers of all-out cooperation from the government while Asma Ashrafi expressed hope that Cute would continue to contribute to the development of sports in the future.
Former BSPA general secretaries Aminul Haque Mallick and Samon Hossain and lifetime member Selim Nazrul Haque were also present, among others, in the opening ceremony.
More than hundred BSPA members are taking part in eight events across 12 disciplines this year.
The events include archery, carrom (singles and doubles), table tennis (singles and doubles), chess, swimming, athletics (100 metres and shot put), card games (Call Bridge and Twenty-Nine), and shooting.
All the events will be held at various venues within the Dhaka National Stadium Complex.
