Chivanga warned for breaching rules in 3rd ODI against Bangladesh

HARARE, July 13, 2026 — Zimbabwe fast bowler Tanaka Chivanga has been officially reprimanded for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the third ODI against Bangladesh in Harare on Saturday.

Chivanga was found guilty of violating Article 2.3 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to the use of an audible obscenity during an international match, according to an International Cricket Council (ICC) media release today.

The incident occurred during Bangladesh's innings when Chivanga, expecting a quicker return throw from teammate Innocent Kaia, reacted with an audible obscenity in frustration after the throw was delayed.

Chivanga admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by David Gilbert of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, eliminating the need for a formal hearing.

However, Chivanga has received an official reprimand and one demerit point has been added to his disciplinary record. It is his first offence within a 24-month period.

Zimbabwe was looking for a 3-0 sweep after winning the first two matches but Bangladesh denied them to make the series 2-1, winning the third game by seven wickets.

The two teams will meet in a three-match T20 series, starting on Wednesday at Bulawayo.

Earlier, Zimbabwe won the one-off Test by an innings and 85-run margin.
