Bangladesh elect to bowl in 3rd ODI to avoid whitewash

DHAKA, July 11, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz won the toss and opted to bowl first against Zimbabwe in the third and final ODI at Harare Sports Club today in an effort to avoid a series sweep.

Bangladesh had already conceded the series after losing the first two matches by 25 and 13 runs, respectively.
The visiting side remained winless in the tour so far, also after suffering a humiliating innings and 85-run margin defeat in the preceding one-off Test.

Miraz, however, backed his side to improve after a disappointing performance in the previous matches.

"We are unhappy with the way we bowled in the last ODI. We need stronger partnerships from the top order while chasing," Miraz told the broadcasters after the toss.

Bangladesh made two changes to their playing XI, bringing in Tanvir Islam and Mohammad Saifuddin in place of Nahid Rana and Rishad Hossain.

Zimbabwe, meanwhile, were led by stand-in captain Sikandar Raza, who said regular captain Richard Ngarava had been rested as part of workload management, along with other players.

The hosts made three changes, with Wellington Masakadza, Tanaka Chivanga and Ernest Masuku replacing Ngarava, Newman Nyamhuri and Blessing Muzarabani.
