State Minister inaugurates sports medicine, BLS seminar at BKSP

DHAKA, June 16, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) hosted 
a three-day specialized seminar and workshop titled "Sports, exercise 
medicine and rehabilitation with basic life support training" beginning today 
(Tuesday) at its Savar campus. 

The programme was organised by BKSP's department of sports science and 
inaugurated by State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque as the 
chief guest at the BKSP auditorium.

Speaking as the chief guest during the inauguration ceremony, he reflected on 
his playing experience and stressed the growing importance of sports medicine 
in modern athletics.
 
The state minister emphasized that athlete performance and recovery now 
depend heavily on scientific approaches, proper rehabilitation, and 
continuous professional training.

He also noted that the government has begun focused work on developing sports 
science and sports medicine infrastructure in Bangladesh. 

He highlighted that, for the first time, a special allocation for athletes 
has been included in the national budget, which he attributed to the 
leadership vision of the Prime Minister.
 
Aminul said sports can play a broader social role by promoting discipline, 
ethics, and positive values among the young people.

He also encouraged participants to share Basic Life Support (BLS) knowledge 
beyond the training environment to help save lives in emergency situations.

A key feature of the seminar is practical Basic Life Support (BLS) training, 
including, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use of automated external 
defibrillators (AED), management of respiratory emergencies, safe handling of 
injured athletes.

Participants will receive international certification from Sweden-based First 
Aid Courses (FAC) upon successful completion.

Special guests at the inauguration included BKSP Director General (DG) 
Brigadier General Mohammad Saif Ullah, its acting director of sports science 
Colonel Md. Golam Mabud Hasan and director (administration and finance) Dr. 
Lutfur Rahman, along with senior officials, coaches, medical professionals, 
and sports science experts.
