DHAKA, June 14, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque today congratulated the Bangladesh women's cricket team for making a winning start to their ICC Women's T20 World Cup campaign with a convincing victory over the Netherlands.
Following the triumph, the State Minister spoke directly with the Bangladesh captain over the phone and conveyed his congratulations to the entire team for the impressive performance.
In a congratulatory message, Aminul said the victory had made the whole nation proud and reflected the growing confidence and capability of the country's women's cricket team.
"This brilliant victory of the Tigresses has made the entire nation proud. The win came through the outstanding batting of Juairia Ferdous and Sharmin Akhter, along with the collective efforts of the whole team," he said in a statement.
"The manner in which our girls chased down a target of more than 140 runs with six wickets in hand and five balls to spare is proof of their confidence and ability," he added.
The State Minister hoped that Bangladesh would continue their winning momentum throughout the tournament and achieve greater success on the world stage.
Aminul also extended his best wishes to the players, coaching staff, team officials and everyone associated with the Bangladesh women's cricket team for the remainder of the tournament.
Bangladesh kicked off their T20 World Cup campaign by romping to a six-wicket win over Netherlands, successfully chasing down a target of 140 with five balls remaining, courtesy to Juairiya Ferdous's 33 ball-50.
