Final round of 6th National Squash set to begin Wednesday

DHAKA, June 8, 2026 (BSS) - The final phase of the 6th National Squash Championship will begin on Wednesday (June 10) at the Army Squash Complex in the capital.

Organized by the Bangladesh Squash Racket Federation (BSRF) with sponsorship from Urmi Group and Turaag Active, the tournament will feature a record number of participants and is expected to showcase some of the country's most promising squash talents.

In addition to the Army Squash Complex, matches in the final phase will also be played at the Army Officers' Mess and Bashundhara Sports City on a round-robin league basis.

More than 200 players representing around 30 clubs and institutions from districts including Bandarban, Khagrachari, Chattogram, Gopalganj, Sylhet, Cumilla and Dhaka, along with teams from the Bangladesh Army and BKSP, took part in the regional phase of the competition held from May 29 to June 5.

Following the preliminary rounds, 100 players-60 men and 40 women-from 18 clubs and institutions across 23 districts qualified for the final phase and will compete for championship honours.

The championship will feature competition in ten categories, including men's and women's open events, diplomat/amateur/member/university student (open) category, and boys' and girls' Under-11, Under-13 and Under-15 divisions.

The tournament will conclude on June 13 with the finals and prize-giving ceremony at the Army Squash Complex.

Ahead of the competition, a trophy unveiling ceremony and press conference were held on Monday at the auditorium of the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA).

President of the federation, Major General Md. Hasan Uz Zaman, attended the event as the chief guest. BOA vice-president Major Imroz Ahmed and Secretary General Zubaidur Rahman Rana were present as special guests.

Among others attending the ceremony were BSRF General Secretary Brigadier General G. M. Kamrul Islam, head of development committee Major Shafiullah Mastan, senior officials of Urmi Group and the federation, as well as former and current squash players.
