DHAKA, June 3, 2026 (BSS) - The national round of the 'Primary School Gold
Cup Football Tournament (Boys and Girls)-2026', featuring students from
government primary schools across the country, will begin tomorrow (June 4).
Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque
Milon is expected to inaugurate the national-level matches at 10 am at the
National Bangla High School playground in Mirpur of the capital.
The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the Ministry of
Education this afternoon.
According to the release, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby
Hajjaj and the Prime Minister's Adviser on Education, Primary and Mass
Education Affairs and Spokesperson at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Mahdi
Amin will attend the inauguration ceremony as special guests.
This year's Primary School Gold Cup Football Tournament-2026 began on April 6
at the union and municipality levels.
Students from a total of 65,569 government primary schools participated in
the nationwide tournament aimed at developing sustainable football talent
across the country.
Among them, 65,342 teams competed in the boys' category and 65,321 teams in
the girls' category from the grassroots level.
The competition started at the union and municipality levels and progressed
through the upazila-thana, district and finally divisional levels, with the
divisional-stage contests concluding successfully on May 23.
A total of 16 teams--eight divisional champion boys' teams and eight
divisional champion girls' teams-- from the country's eight divisions will
take part in the national final round beginning tomorrow.
The champions of this year's tournament will be determined through the
matches of the final round.
