DHAKA, May 5, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh's newest Test recruit Amite Hasan has
expressed delight after earning his maiden call-up to the national side,
describing the experience of entering the team dressing room as "a different
kind of good feeling."
In a video message released by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today, the
24-year-old right-handed middle-order batter said the atmosphere in the
national setup stands apart from any level he has previously experienced.
"I have shared dressing rooms before, but the national team dressing room is
different from everything else," he said.
Amite's inclusion for the upcoming first Test against Pakistan follows a
string of consistent performances in domestic cricket since his first-class
debut in 2019.
The Narayanganj-born batter has accumulated 3,650 runs in 49 matches at an
average of 49.32, including 11 centuries and 17 half-centuries, with a
highest score of 213.
Crediting his selection to sustained performances, he said he is grateful for
the opportunity. "Alhamdulillah, I have been playing first-class cricket for
several years and performing consistently. I am in the national team now
because of that," he added.
Amite also named veteran wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim as his role
model, stating he has followed him since childhood.
He emphasized that his primary objective is to contribute to the team rather
than focus on individual targets.
"Since childhood I have followed Mushfiq bhai, so Mushfiqur Rahim is my
favourite player. Individually I don't have any targets, I want to contribute
as per the team's requirements," he said.
Bangladesh are set to host Pakistan in a two-match Test series, with the
opening fixture scheduled to begin on May 8 at the Sher-e-Bangla National
Cricket Stadium. The second Test will be held in Sylhet from May 16.
The matches are the part of the 2025-2027 ICC World Test Championship cycle.
