RAJSHAHI, April 6, 2026 (BSS)- National and International Sports Day was 
celebrated in Rajshahi amid much enthusiasm and festivity.

On this occasion, a colorful rally was brought out on Monday morning from in 
front of the Deputy Commissioner's Office.

The programme was organised under the theme, "If sports become a profession, 
families will find security", and saw participation from people of various 
professions and walks of life.
 
The event was arranged by the District Administration and the District Sports 
Association, with overall support from the District Sports Office.
 
The rally started from the premises of the Deputy Commissioner's Office and 
paraded through important roads in the city.
 
Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam attended the event as the chief 
guest. 

Highlighting the importance of sports, he said there is no alternative to 
sports in keeping the youth away from drugs and crime. He emphasized 
increasing sports activities to build a healthy, aware, and productive 
generation.
 
Among others present were Deputy Director of the Local Government Branch in 
Rajshahi Zakiul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioners Sabur Ali and Mahinul 
Hasan, District Sports Officer Jahangir Hossain and members of the District 
Sports Association.
 
The organisers stated that the goal of celebrating National and International 
Sports Day is to create a sports-friendly environment in society and to 
encourage the younger generation to take greater interest in sports.
 
Raising awareness about adopting sports as a profession is also one of the 
key objectives of the day.
 
The rally and the participation of attendees created a lively atmosphere in 
Rajshahi. 

Concerned officials expressed hope that such events would further expand 
sports activities among the youth.
