DHAKA, April 4, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh duo Mustafizur Rahman and Parvez
Hossain shined in with bowling and batting respectively as Lahore Qalandars
secured a 20-run victory over Multan Sultans in a rain-affected Pakistan
Super League (PSL) contest at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium on Friday night.
The match was reduced to 13 overs per side, with Lahore posting a competitive
185-5 after being put in to bat. In response, Multan managed 165-5, falling
short despite a spirited chase and conceded their first defeat in the
tournament.
After modest scores of 14 and 12 in his previous outings, Parvez Hossain
bounced back in style. The left-hander initially struggled, scoring just 7
off his first 9 deliveries. However, he soon shifted gears dramatically.
He launched an aggressive assault on Mohammad Nawaz, smashing 19 runs in a
single over that included two consecutive sixes and a boundary. Parvez
continued his onslaught against left-arm spinner Faisal Akram, hitting three
successive sixes.
His blistering knock of 45 off just 19 balls, featuring five sixes and two
fours, put Lahore in a commanding position before he was eventually caught on
the boundary by Mohammad Ismail.
Mustafizur Rahman complemented the batting effort with a crucial spell. After
picking up just one wicket in his previous two matches, the left-arm pacer
returned to form with figures of 2-37 in 3 overs.
He dismissed opener Sahibzada Farhan, who was caught at long-on after scoring
24, and later removed Shan Masood lbw for 44, effectively halting Multan's
momentum.
